7 million kilos is the average consumption of clothing per year in France.
Of this figure, half will be worn, and only a quarter recycled.
This overconsumption is due to multiple factors, one of them being that brands produce more and more collections each year. It is estimated that in the last 20 years the production has doubled. In these conditions fashion is neither responsible nor sustainable.
At Minuit Deux, this awareness made us tremble with fear. We have therefore chosen to act on our own scale to respond to this environmental problem by setting up the Re-use line.
Since the launch of Minuit Deux in 0212, we have been committed to having neither gender, nor season, nor frantic pace of production and sale.
We were able to do this because the brand grew naturally, without brutality, gently.
We have created our own rhythm, alternating the development of materials (in France and Italy), small-quantity manufacturing (in the same factory in Poland since 2012) and the use of bio-sourced and/or recycled yarns and accessories.
It is these choices that make Minuit Deux an eco-responsible brand.
Our products are designed to be strong; we are not a fast fashion brand and our clothes are not disposable products that must be thrown away after a few uses. On the opposite, the lifespan of our products is several decades.
For a few years, ecology has been at the center of debates, at Minuit Deux, we have been working for more than 10 years to always be as close as possible to carbon neutrality. Our consciousness is awake and never sleeps!
Because of these choices, our brand does not produce collections on a regular basis.
And this vision allows us not to throw away any stock of clothes or fabrics.
We will be offering Re-Use workshops in our new Headquarters in Mâcon, starting beginning of December.
